For landowners, Wonder Earth Partners has a different goal. Our plan is to extend the length of the rotation for timber trees and demonstrate the environmental value of hardwoods. Encouraging biodiversity in forest settings is the key to maintaining clean air and water on this planet. If landowners receive payment for not cutting down trees, then they can afford to become better keepers of the land. By using the trees for carbon sequestration and joining the Wonder Earth Partners mutual pool, you are paid for having your land act as a carbon sink.

To have Wonder Earth evaluate the carbon potential of your land requires some basic information. The landowner is asked to provide a legal description of the property - address, acreage, latitude and longitude, proof of ownership. (Document 1 - application questionnaire). The owner also needs to provide an aerial photograph - which is available through the division of state lands or your county land records department.

Wonder Earth Partners will then do a preliminary evaluation and decide whether there is enough carbon on the landscape to make the effort worthwhile. If we decide to accept the application, a payment of $1500 or a 10% cut of cash value as earnest money is required for the physical property assessment. This assessment will include evaluation of the baseline carbon content of the property, along with the development of a basic management plan for carbon sequestration. This plan will include evaluation of additionality and leakage.
